What is a Parent Association (PA)?

Our school has a Parent Association (PA), which is an organisation of parents/guardians. Its role is to encourage closer links between home and school.

How is the PA organised?

Our PA holds our annual general meeting in October, at the start of the school year. At this meeting a committee is elected to run the PA – usually consisting of a chair, a treasurer, and a secretary . This year's chairperson is Sean Barry, Secretary is Natalie Dempsey and Treasurer is Dara O Reilly.
The PA usually meet once a term but keep in regular contact with parents /school.

How is money raised?

Our PA raises money through various means. A voluntary contribution is requested once a year and we hold one main event at Halloween – for example this year a Halloween fancy dress party/quiz . However we’re always looking for new fundraising ideas.

How can I be involved in my PA?

There are many different ways you can help with the PA, whether you have lots of time to offer or not.
Some of the roles are time-consuming, although also rewarding. If you can’t commit to a big job, please look out for things you can do less frequently .Of course you can always support PA events by simply turning up.
